Check out Crash Boat Beach in Aguadilla.
Crash Boat Beach is a popular beach on the west coast of Puerto Rico, in the city of Aguadilla.
Being near the north side of Puerto Rico puts this beach within reach of the Atlantic Ocean, although technically part of the small Aguadilla Bay.
What to Know about Crash Boat
Crash Boat can be divided into three portions. The northern side is excellent for those trying to stay away from the grounds; it is a far quieter, calmer area. From there, you see the crowds gather at the central and main areas of the beach.
The southern side is also quieter, and most people there are those looking for a relaxing day at the beach.
Very important for the non-swimmers; there are no lifeguards on duty at this beach.
The pier…
This area in the middle, where the pier is located, is where most families gather, as there is something fascinating about jumping off the pier into the relatively shallow waters. I would say the piers are the defining feature of this beach.
Initially, the pier was built for fishing boats to dock there. However, the local currents brought plenty of sand, making the water too shallow and not good enough to dock boats. Instead, a beach eventually formed.
Crash Boat is an excellent beach for surfing during the winter months. In that community, it is also known as Gas Chambers.
Crash Boat is also great for snorkeling, especially if you’re a beginner, for there are plenty of shallow areas here.
Speaking of shallow, be mindful of the surrounding waters by the pier. They may seem shallow and safe, but underwater currents sometimes hit them.
Amenities at Crash Boat
The good news is that there’s plenty of site parking with two lots.
The large lot is paid parking, while the smaller one is free but fills quickly. Nonetheless, with its popularity, the beach fills up fast.
Bring plenty of bottled water and snacks if you are on a budget. Small coolers are allowed and encouraged on the beach. It is the same for tents, beach chairs, and blankets. There is also a rental site for those “conveniences.”
If you find yourself hungry, you are better off bringing your cooler and food, as the beach doesn’t provide many choices. Besides Chocoloba food and beach bar, some pop-up kiosks and ice cream vendors roam the beach.
There are restrooms on-site and portable toilets, which is a big plus.
Plenty of trash cans on-site help maintain the beach litter-free.

If you are in Puerto Rico and intend to go to the beach, look no further than Aguadilla.
There are more beaches in Aguadilla, like Rompeolas Beach, Playa India, Punta Borinquen Beach, and Playa Las Ruinas(home to abandoned lighthouse ruins), amongst many more. Crash Boat, however, rocks.
For another Puerto Rican beach, check out Jobos.
